An Inconvenient Truth
Free movie showing followed by refreshments and discussion
Monday, October 30 at 7:00 pm

(UMC.org)—An Inconvenient Truth is the most important film you will see this year. I would love to offer a more original opening for this review, but in good conscience, the only thing I can do is echo what scores of other critics have already said. It is so important that you should take your family, your mom, your boss and that neighbor who hasn’t returned your lawnmower and fill up a whole row.

40 Days of Purpose Spiritual Journey
Answering the question, "What on earth am I here for?"

West Chester United Methodist Church
Beginning Wednesday September 6th

It is a 40-day Bible Study focused on providing insight for those who seek to answer the question, "What on Earth am I here for?"

While each of us search for the unique answer as to why God created us, we will learn that there are five major purposes for our existence according to the Word of God. The 40-day journey includes three opportunities of participation - individual, group, and weekend services.

Healing the Wounds of Racism 2006

Join a growing group of resisters to "racism"! Become part of the "Beloved Community" and rejoice at the emergence (creation) of God's new realm of justice. A 3-day workshop for everyone concerned about justice for all. Continue to strengthen your spirit and enhance your skills for the work of deconstructing racism.

There are five workshops scheduled for August through November 2006, including two in Paoli, PA.  More information can be found here.

Responding with Faith to Immigration

Participate in this 10-week campaign from Independence Day to Labor Day to raise awareness and commitment among Christians about the concerns of immigrants.  What does the Bible say? What do we believe as the people of the United Methodist Church? What day-to-day challenges face new immigrants? How can we address these concerns in our life of prayer?

Learn more about this self-paced study program.

Christ Servant Ministries

The Christ Servant Ministries’ program is responsible for providing opportunities that promote serving, training, and recognition of laity who lead, speak and care about others. The Eastern Pennsylvania Annual Conference is unique in the United Methodist Church in the commissioning of Christ Servant Ministers. These lay workers serve God in, through, and with, congregations in a multitude of functions. They don’t just fill in on Sundays when the pastor is on vacation; but provide trained leadership wherever God calls.

Nigerian Health Clinic - Tuesday, October 3 at 7PM

Our "Time to Build" campaign included monies that were set aside to benefit a health clinic in Nigeria. The United Methodist Women's group is sponsoring an evening program to learn more about this effort. The featured speaker will be Rev. Donna Jones (Pastor at Cookman UMC) who will tell us about the "Rural Health Initiative in Nigeria." Rev. Jones has been to Nigeria many times and has many things to tell us about this mission project and how our pledged monies have helped. We welcome all members of the church to attend.
